Starting a PLN needs to be maintainable for it to succeed. It is important to keep your PLN simple yet effective enough that it doesn’t become a burden. As well as your PLN should be built in a way that it can grow as technology and social media grows.
Can your PLN be used to help professional development post-course?
Yes my PLN will help me with career and education development post-course because the way it was created is based on utilizing it professionally. It is separated from my personal accounts, linked to professional platforms, and it is maintained in hopes to use long-term. During this course, I have slightly changed my perspective on social media and its involvement in the professional and education sectors. I have always thought it was a useful tool, however, this course material and readings opened my eyes to new ways to use social media to your professional advantage. I am hoping to be able to expand and grow my PLN more as social media and technology grow. Not only will I use my PLN for professional purposes, but also to learn more myself.

A PLN is one of your biggest networking tools when it comes to seeking professional opportunities. If created and maintained in the right way, your PLN can open new doors both from an educational standpoint and a professional. Based on media literacy, PLN’s are important in sharing and communicating new information. It can be used to find jobs, create communities online, learn, and connect with like-minded people. The internet and technology are almost limitless in what you can do, meaning opportunities are endless from a professional standpoint.
