The benefit of being in the social spotlight and having a PLN that people follow is that you have a way to influence others. You can use your social platforms in a positive way, including influencing people, helping people and creating a safe space n social media. When you have platforms and PLN that people follow it means people trust you and your presence on social media.
Building a community with online tools provided by the employer can be limiting, what are the perceived restrictions and benefits?
Creative freedom could be restricted as online tools provided by employers would most likely have policies surrounding what you can and cannot do. However, this is also very beneficial in keeping personal and professional communities separate. As well as having policies in place ensures a safer environment for the community.

Building any platform on which you want individuals to rely requires lots of background work on the information you’re presenting in your PLN. Using peer-reviewed articles, double-checking your information, and using multiple sources to back up your information. A good example of this for students at UVic would be utilizing our UVic library, with verified sources, peer-reviewed articles and journals, as well as a trusted database of information.

It is hard to determine what is true and not true on social media. When sharing information it’s crucial to be sure your facts are backed up. Being a veteran storyteller entails lots of research and background checks. Always insuring that you are double and triple-checking information before sharing it. This is crucial, especially being a veteran storyteller because you have a lot of influence on the people who follow you.
What is the best way to address negative replies and reviewers which reflect your personal values?
When dealing with negativity on any platform which targets your personal values it is important to refrain from retaliating in a negative way. Either not responding or responding in a positive way is the best way to deter people from getting what they want out of their negative replies. Responding to negativity with positive comments is a safe way to deter people from continuing.
